Kyra Ignite Games

What is the Kyra Ignite Games?

This year will see our fourth annual alliance games. The games are participation focused and feature a circuit of different sports and activities provided free of charge by a number of local and regional coaching companies and are coordinated by Kyra SLE (Specialist Leader of Education) Richard Dennis (Primary School Teacher and PE Subject Lead at Monks Abbey Primary School. PE, School Sport and Fundamental Movement Skills).

The aim of the games is to simply ignite a spark of enthusiasm for sport and physical activity. The games have always created a great friendly atmosphere where the pupils can have fun and build their confidence to engage in activities that they may not have tried before, for this reason we encourage schools to  send pupils who are less likely to engage and would benefit from this opportunity to participate in physical activity.

We are delighted to have ‘Ignited the spark’ for

  • 180 children in 2014
  • 288 children in 2015
  • 220 children in 2016

What can you expect?

The games provide a half day of physical activities,  in previous years this has included tennis, football, cricket, handball, ultimate frisbee, and orienteering. These activities were kindly provided by the following regional and local coaching companies:

  • MSP (MultiSport Pro)
  • Virsco
  • Synergy
  • The FA
  • Lincolnshire Cricket

Every child who participated received free refreshments and a medal from our main sponsor: Vision for Education

The fourth annual Kyra Ignite games is due to be held on the 12th July at Lincoln Carlton Academy
